The historical background for establishment of Ely schools can be traced back in the year 2007 when a small school was established at Majengo-Street in Arusha as a centre for students from low income families and vulnerable children. The school started with five students and grew to 100+ students. The building where the school was located was not a good place for learning as it was suggested by the government to shift to a new conducive place for learning. The school was moved to Mkonoo- a hired premises and continued to operate there with two teachers and 25 students.
